FRANCOIS VOYER EXTRA 42%
From Verrières with Love (Part IV.)
After the VSOP, Napoleon, XO, & XO Gold, let’s try a 35yo G.C. Here is the François Voyer Extra!
Colour: Amber, orange lights. Heavy regular tears.
Nose: Charming nose on overripe melon and banana scents. Distinct exotic fruits notes. Ananas yogurt, heady litchi smells too. A very promising nose. Great spicy tones arise, mainly on gingerbread and cinnamon. Slight fresh shades on eucalyptus in the background.
Palate: Sweet texture, a tad oily too. A delicious mix of fruity and roasted notes at first. Still on exotic fruits, especially on mango juice. Ample notes of coconut powder and bourbon vanilla. Cooked passion fruits/pineapple aromas. Incredible mouth length considering the ABV (42%). This is a lovely rancioted palate here.
Last Notes: Still this stunning exotic fruits yogurt scents with more air. A tad licoricy in the background. A tad tobacco-y too. As an answer to the nose, there is a second wave of freshness, this time on cardamom and peppermint. Very refined nose. A « classic » 30yo+ G.C but with this extra touch that makes you want to refill your glass. Back on the palate, you find fresh mango aromas melted to bourbon vanilla and marzipan notes. Obvious pastry notes in the aftertaste. A tad of cherry liquor aromas stuck to the top of your palate. Delicious mouth length on licorice stick and tinned plums. It ends on black pepper and precious wood notes.
This François Voyer Extra is a stunning G.C. A great work of assemblage for a delicious 35yo+ G.C.
My very subjective note: 89+/100
